Lagos Lawyer Sues Buhari

Kabir Akingbolu, a lawyer and rights activist, has sued President Muhammadu Buhari at the Federal High Court in Lagos over what he considered the president’s inability to provide adequate fuel to all citizens at the regulated price.
Vanguard reports that the lawyer also has the attorney general of the federation as the second defendant. The lawyer’s reason for the suit is that the unavailability of petroleum products especially petrol is causing great inconvenience to the citizens and this might degenerate into civil unrest. He said this might result in a breach of peace in the nation. He is expecting the court to determine whether the inaction of the president was a violation of the oath he took on May 29.
Akingbolu is hoping the court will see the inability of President Buhari and the attorney general of the federation to provide fuel as a breach of oath of office. This he said is also a breach of the constitutional obligation of the president.
Meanwhile, the price of petrol rose above the official price as Nigerians all over the country complained that they had to buy petrol for N110 and above instead of N87 per litre.
