How Mastermind Of Jos, Zaria Bombings Was Apprehended

The Nigerian military has revealed how the suspected mastermind of the recent terrorist attacks in Jos, Plateau state, and Zaria, Kaduna state, was apprehended.
In a statement issued on July 8, Wednesday, Colonel Sani Usman, the director of army public relations, announced that the terror kingpin was captured in Gombe state.
He said that suspected Boko Haram terrorists carried out attacks on worshippers at Ýan Taya Mosque in Jos where the Ramadan prayer was holding and at Shagalinku restaurant along Bauchi Road also in Jos, leading to the death of over 48 persons.
The terrorists also carried out another bomb attack at the Sabon Gari local government secretariat in Zaria, resulting in the death of 25 people including a two-year-old child.
Usman revealed that after series of attacks, a security cordon was established in Bauchi, Gombe and the north-eastern part of the country by troops of 3 Division, the Special Task Force and the Department of State Service. “This culminated in the successful arrest of the mastermind of the heinous terrorist acts and two of his accomplices at a checkpoint in Dadin Kowa, Gombe state.
“The terrorist kingpin and his colleagues who hid in a trailer while trying to evade checks were fished out by troops of the Nigerian Army,” he said.
Usman further stressed that the suspected terrorists would face the full wrath. He also called on Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons, movements to the security agencies.
It would be noted that the statement of the director of army public relations was preceded by the call by Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations secretary-general. He appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to use all the powers to stop bombers working for the Boko Haram sect.
This Day reports that Ki-moon also urged Buhari to root out the Boko Haram menace, and commended the countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Benin Republic for their joint efforts in the fight against insurgency.
The UN secretary-general extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
The president said this while expressing his condolences to all residents who lost relatives in the recent terrorist attacks.
